Quick overview: four tools, different strengths

  • KAYAK Ask AI: conversational comparison of live travel options across providers.
  • Trip.com TripGenie: AI travel assistance within a broader booking and itinerary app.
  • FlyTicket FlyBot: an iPhone flight-search conversation with seller hand-off.
  • Navia: a flight-focused conversation that continues to an authorised in-app purchase.

“Best” here means suitable for a particular task. We considered search, transaction path, trip scope and product availability. This is a Navia-published comparison; Navia is not affiliated with the other products. The assessment uses official documentation, not independent performance testing or a universal ranking.

Navia and KAYAK Ask AI: search versus the purchase path

Both offer conversational search. The distinction is the transaction workflow, not a claim that one always finds a better fare. KAYAK’s linked help allows on-site or external provider checkout.

First, separate an answer from an available ticket

A useful AI flight tool needs more than an attractive conversation. Does it return available flights for your route and dates? Can you inspect the fare and total? Where do passenger details and payment go? Who confirms and services the booking? These questions distinguish a travel planner from a search tool and a booking application.

Our guide to whether AI can actually book flights explains the distinction. An itinerary suggestion is not a reservation, and no assistant should turn a casual request into an unapproved purchase.

KAYAK Ask AI: broad conversational comparison

KAYAK’s current product is Ask AI. Its earlier AI Mode evolved into Ask AI in April 2026, according to the company’s current guide. It pairs a conversation with travel search, making it a relevant choice when you want to compare providers or explore more than flights.

The Ask AI help page says it uses live pricing and availability. Choosing “View Deal” leads to KAYAK results, where checkout may remain on KAYAK.com or continue to the provider’s site. In either case, the booking is with the provider. Calling every result a redirect would therefore be misleading.

Consider it when comparison breadth is your main requirement. Pay attention to the selected seller when deciding where to buy and where to request changes afterward.

TripGenie: planning and booking within a wider travel app

TripGenie is Trip.com’s assistant for travel questions, itineraries and help finding flights and accommodation. Its official product introduction describes conversations that direct users to relevant results and booking pages within the app. It is more than an isolated chatbot suggesting destinations.

This breadth may suit someone choosing activities and a hotel as well as transport. Trip.com also documents itinerary collaboration and travel alerts. Those are useful reasons to consider it, separate from whether its flight result is the best fare for your particular dates. Review the actual flight, selected extras and payable total at checkout.

FlyTicket FlyBot: an iPhone search assistant

FlyTicket’s app page describes FlyBot as a conversational flight-search assistant, currently in beta. It also shows price-calendar and detailed filtering features. These can suit someone who likes a native phone interface but still wants to explore dates and fare trade-offs.

The same page explicitly says flight payment and booking are completed with the airline or agency after hand-off. At this review date, it lists iPhone availability and Android as in development, with a mobile website available. This is a search-first alternative, not evidence of flight checkout inside the FlyTicket app. Check its current subscription terms if you expect extensive AI use.

Navia: keep a known flight request connected to checkout

Navia focuses on a trip whose destination and dates are already known. You describe the requirement, review suitable available flights, select a traveller and authorise payment in the same app. The AI helps narrow the options; you make the purchase decision after checking the details.

That makes Navia worth considering when your goal is completing a specific flight booking with less repeated entry. Saved passenger information and invoices help with repeat trips, while tracking and in-app support keep subsequent tasks close to the booking. Optional automatic check-in applies only to supported flights. Navia does not claim that a conversation guarantees the lowest fare or replaces customer review.

For employees and founders, the deciding issue may be orderly billing rather than holiday planning. Start with the requirements in our company booking guide and verify that the available workflow fits them.

What about other well-known AI travel assistants?

Do not treat a travel brand’s AI announcement as proof of an end-to-end flight transaction. For example, Booking.com’s AI Trip Planner introduction describes destination and accommodation planning with an accommodation booking connection. That announcement alone does not establish conversational flight checkout. Check the current feature in your own market before relying on it.

Google Flights also offers natural-language Flight Deals, while Skyscanner has Explore with AI beta. These are additional discovery options; see our Google Flights comparison and Skyscanner comparison for their documented search tools and purchase paths.

Choose with one representative request

Try a request that includes exact dates, airports, passengers and one meaningful constraint, such as arriving before a meeting. Compare whether the tool respects that constraint and makes the fare conditions understandable. Then inspect the purchase path before entering payment information.

Our AI and traditional booking comparison covers the wider trade-offs. If you want to take a known trip from conversation to checkout, download Navia and review an available flight before authorising it.

Frequently asked questions

Can an AI flight app actually complete a booking?

Some can support a transaction, while others provide search and pass you to a seller. Navia supports an in-app purchase that the customer reviews and authorises.

Does KAYAK Ask AI always redirect me to another website?

No. Its help describes both staying on KAYAK.com and going to a provider’s website. Either way, the booking is with the selected provider.

Does FlyTicket offer flight checkout inside its app?

Its current app page says it hands customers to the airline or agency for the booking and payment. That is different from an in-app transaction.

Should I choose a broad AI travel planner for a simple flight?

Choose the scope you need. Broader itinerary features can help with a whole holiday, while a flight-focused workflow may suit a destination and date you already know.

Will an AI app always find the cheapest ticket?

No such guarantee is made here. Availability and fares change, and the lowest displayed fare may exclude baggage or flexibility that you need. Compare the final total and conditions.
